FAQs

When can I register?

NO registrations will be accepted before May 1st, 2016. Space is limited to the first 50 vehicle/drivers registrations.

Do I have to be a member of Great Lakes Four Wheel Drive Association (GLFWDA)?

***NEW THIS YEAR*** If you are not a current member of GLFWDA you will need to purchase a $10 weekend pass for each driver registered. Also, during registration use 01234 as your Member number. While we have required this weekend pass in previous years, this year the amount of the weekend pass may be applied to a regularly priced ($40) annual membership for up to 30 days after the event. If you are currently NOT a member of GLFWDA and would like more information on becoming a member, please visit the following link: GLFWDA Membership

Attendees must follow GLFWDA Safety Recommendations, please see the following link for more information: GLFWDA Safety Certification

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

While we highly encourage family participation, all drivers MUST be over 18 years of age. Also drivers and vehicles MUST be legally licensed.

What type of vehicle can I bring to this event?

In order for your vehicle to be allowed to participate, it MUST be a Street Licensed Four Wheel Drive Vehicle with a Low Range Capable Transfer Case. Your vehicle is also required to have a working CB radio and Front and Rear frame mounted recovery points.

Can I register multiple vehicles and drivers?

You may register for multiple vehicles/drivers, however, if you are registering multiple vehicles/drivers, please complete one registration per vehicle

This event is on an island; what fees am I likely going to have to pay to get to the island?

From the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, you will have two water crossings to make to get to Drummond Island. The first will be Mackinac Bridge. The bridge fees currently posted are $2.00 per axle or $4.00 for a standard passenger vehicle, all other vehicles are listed as $5.00 per axle. The fee will be collected on each trip across the bridge.

The second crossing to be made will be a ferry crossing from DeTour Village to Drummond Island, this is a round-trip ticket. Please see the following link for rates and ferry schedule: Drummond Island Ferry Rates and Schedule
